is a tig welder just a regular arc welder?
is a tig welder just a regular arc welder with a tungsten torch instead of electrode holder?
they look almost identical
so can you but a tig torch and a argon bottle and turn a atandard arc welder into a tig? or are they totally different machines?
i understand the basics of tig and arc welding, was only asking about the welders themselves
It is a form of arc welding. Basic arc welding doesnt use gas. Tungsten Inert Gas (TIG) welding, is an arc welding process that uses a nonconsumable tungsten electrode to produce the weld. The weld area is protected from atmospheric contamination by a shielding gas.
