Watt Voltage Submersible
If I lower in input voltage of a submersible pump, will it pump slower?
There are cheap used submersible pumps on ebay. I want one for my swamp cooler, but I don't need 3000 gallons per hour and 400 to 900 watts consumption.
It usually plugs into 120v. Can I plug it in to a transformed, say 10 volts AC and have it still function?
The other answers are correct - you will likely burn up the submersible pump. However if what you are after is to pump more water to your pads in your evaporative cooler, try this. Get a second pump, a normal cooler pump and spider. Plug both pumps into the same point with a cube tap so they both come on at once. Connect the 2nd spider to the old spider with wire ties or bread ties and arrange the outputs so the water is running into the pads. This will give you twice as much water to your pads. I always use the thickest pads or just double up on the pads when doing this. You will be approaching the cooling of a mastercool by doing this. I have done it for years.
