I bought a GE 60 minute in-wall Timer Switch from Home Depot and want to install it for my bathroom exhaust fan. Coming from the gang box in the wall are two black wires and a bare copper wire. The GE switch has a Black (HOT), Blue (Load), White (Neutral), and Green (Ground). Which wires do I connect?
Ok I just took a better look at the gangbox which is also shared with a 3 way light switch. Anyway in the back there are 3 white wires connected to each other. Should I connect my white wire into those 3?
Maybe you overlooked the white wires all connected to each other in the back of the box. If you have a voltmeter, you can check (carefully) which of the black wires is connected to the power source. That would be the one to connect to the HOT connection. The other black wire then goes to the fan and should be connected to the blue Load connection. White goes to white and bare goes to ground.
