i have a 96 cavalier with an idling prob?
the engine idles very high when not in gear, and every now and then it will idle erratically.... when ever i take off my vac hose to my vac assist it idles even higher, like racing. i checked for holes in the hose: none... i replaced the (IAC) sensor and nothing.. what else could cause this?
Sounds like a Throttle Position Sensor may be bad. They are know for causing intermittent idle problems whether it be a high or low idle issue. They're pretty cheap and it's easy to replace.
