We have one in my daughter's bath that tripped and killed four other bathes, I was going to move it to the master, so it would be easier to reset but I don't know how to tell what is upstream and what is down. Also, I assume that all of the outlets on the circuit should be 20 amp since that is what the breaker is. Currently, the non-GCFIs are 15amp. Lastly, I suppose the safest thing would be to switch all them to GCFI and assume that if one trips, I would hope that only one outlet has anything plugged into it. so I would know which to reset.
Your best bet is to have one GFI rated as you say at 15A in each bathroom, wire that bathroom through that GFI. the whole circuit can still be a 20 A circuit. This allows multi-bathrooms to be in use and protected individually. Easy to reset if in the same room as the fault. Each room would then be wired as one circuit (part of the whole branch circuit. Not just all downwind of the one outlet as it is now! Each in parallel, not in series. (May save on the electric bill) You realize that all the bathrooms currently go thru the one you tripped. This is a series circuit. You must separate each bathroom circuit to do what I am saying. Right now you have one big happy circuit (20A). Fine, but, each bathroom could have their own happy 15A GFI, and the circuit could still be 20A.
