Stress, Strain, elasticity, materials, mechanics?
Just wanna check my answer, let me know what you get for this, give me some working if you want not that important.
A 10mm diameter bar is clamped at one end and suspended vertically, calculate the stress in the barif a mass of 2000kg is hung from the free end of the bar. (note mass of 1kf results in a force of 9.80665N at sea level)
If youngs modulus of elasticity for this steel is 210000MPa, and the steel behaves elastically at the stress calculated above, how much strain would be induced by the above mass?

Stress=F/A=2000*9.8/pi*(.005)^2=249555x10^3 N/m^2
Y=249555*10^3/strain
strain=249555*10^3/210000=24955.5/21=1188ANS
