I thought our war wasnt for oil but now that Iraq has gained sovernty it is opening up its oil fields for foriegn investors.
I thought we were going to all sacrifice a little driving for the rest of the world and use clean renewables.
Like what if we burned so much oil in our cars that we didnt have any left to power the machinery to mine the silicon for our solar industry or to make our fertilizers (yes depleted farmland needs that chemical energy too).
Why arnt people boycotting gasoline. When I graduate college I will be on my own and there will be gasoline shortages cause all of our friends over in Asia will be the only ones able to afford it.
You're right. Not everyone can consume oil like the US and Asia. It will all lead to shortages and eventually to violence. However, the oil fields open in Iraq are probably only making the wealthiest Iraqis rich while the rest of the country wades around in squalor. Thats how you ensure there is enough oil.
