Full-Wave Bridge Rectifier Problem:?
A full-wave bridge rectifier circuit with a 2kΩ load operates from a 220V (rms)
50Hz supply through a 10-to-1 step-down transformer having a single secondary winding. It uses four identical diodes. Use the constant voltage drop diode model with VD0 = 0.65V to answer the following questions:
1-What is the peak value of the rectified voltage across the load?
2-For what fraction of a cycle does each diode conduct?
3-What is the average voltage across the load?
4-What is the average current through the load?
10:1 means the secondary is 22 volts RMS, which is (22 x 1.4) 30.8 volts peak.
Subtract two diode drops and that is 30.8-1.3 = 29.5 volts (1)
(2) 50%
(3) average is 0.9 x RMS or 20 volts.
(4) 20v/2k = 10mA
