I am going to be studying abroad in Europe (France in particular) for 6 weeks starting on Monday. I am trying to maximize my funds for the trip, and I think the easiest way to do that would try to be to "eat for free", so to speak. I know that the dorms where I am going to be staying have a kitchen on each floor, and I am a pretty good cook. I plan to do my own cooking most of the time, but what if I tried to sell plates of food for dinner to other students in the dorm? Maybe 2 to 3 euros a plate (4 to 5 American dollars) - which would be a lot cheaper for the other students too, than going out to eat. Since I would be cooking for myself anyways, and ingredients don't usually come in single serve packages, it'd be either this or cook a bunch of food and eat the leftovers for meals over the course of the week. What do you think? I wouldn't be trying to make a huge profit or anything, just selling plates to cover the cost of ingredients, and maybe a LITTLE bit of extra cash. Thanks!
Sounds like a good idea if people would be willing to buy your food. Keep in mind that students have meal plans so eating at the cafeteria would be "free" because it's already paid for whereas buying a plate of food from you would be coming out of their pockets. That's also assuming that your food would be as good as restaurant food if they were to choose yours over going out to eat.
