whats the best kind of torch for cutting metal?
im looking for a torch that can cut metal about a inch thick. its for scrap metal so it doesnt have to be a nice cut it just has to seperate the metal. i was looking at hydrogen, plasma, and a few other kinds. what would be the best kind of torch to cut metal. price isnt that important.
The best and least expensive modern cutting torch uses oxyacetylene gas that burns very hot. It is capable of melting through stainless steel. The torch is actually made of two valves that control acetylene flow and oxygen flow. The acetylene is the fuel that burns and oxygen makes the fuel burn much cleaner and hotter.
A better torch (but it costs a lot more) is called an oxyhydrogen torch. It uses oxygen and hydrogen gas to cut metal even faster. The torch assembly makes its own fuel from water by electrolysis and then feeds the gases up to the torch body.
