Want to buy a good welder for around $300 any ideas?
OK so a few years back I bought an 80amp arc welder from Harbor Freight.... It wasn't strong enough so my rods were always sticking... Which made the power breaker always flip... Repaired one garden shovel and it took fifteen trips down stairs flipping the breaker back on... Think it only cost me about $78 so I couldn't have expected much... I love the idea of welding as a hobby... I love doing it! You know fix things, occasionally create something e.g. robot frame, table saw cart, artwork... But I need something that will work good and efficiently.... Like I said I only want to spend a few hundred dollars... I love using MIG's! Welded up some aluminum with one and it was a lot of fun! But I don't want to hassle with gas... How is flux wire these days? So yeah I would buy another Harbor freight welder if it's good... But that 80amp was crap... Thanks!
I prefer the old Lincoln arc welder myself. It's 225amps and they make them with ac/dc also. But you can get a mig pretty cheap too.Try Lowes,Home Depot,Sears,or even Wal-Mart.A lot of them don't need gas and will work off 110v.They're good for light and medium welding.Plan on getting one myself someday, but for now,my old Lincoln 225 does just fine.I'll always have that.
