I am in the market for a house and spent yesterday doing some drive bys. I found one in a neighbor that looked really nice. It was an area I liked the looks of and also liked the information I saw on the realtors website. Kind of a country setting yet close to the city. When I actually got to the house, it had bars on all the windows and doors with chains secured by keyed master locks. These locks are not the realtor lock box or the window locks advertised for added security. These are the average keyed master lock that you can go to any hardware store and buy. I
Either someone very paranoid lived there or the area is bad... I personally would not like bars on my windows---my dog and Big Ben in my closet handle any problems...If the area is good just ignore this stuff----and if they use it as a selling point tell them you hate it and will remove it anyway.. If the price is right and you buy it--you are best off securing it as you feel fit.
