How to improvise on electric guitar.?
I need to learn how to improvise on guitar.I have been neglecting the basics,i always played riffs and solos by ear,and not the easy kinds either.I roughly know the fretboard.
I have pentatonic and blues scale and chord sheets with me.
I do learn abit of my scales, but i have no idea how to improvise with them.
playing the scales back and forth, but thats all i know how to do with scales, what are the roots used for and numbers and stuff.I know roots is where u wanna play the scale at,but what else is there to do?i do not know.
so i would like to know how to improvise using scales and chords.
I have googled 'how to improvise on guitar' many times but i have no idea what they are talking about,
.
I feel very much like a machine only being able to play stuff and not improvise. It is time to change, this is very important for progression.Point me in the right direction and i shall drag myself through.
hey man instrant message animeguitars on yahoo messanger I will help you learn and answer any question guitar wise.
To improvise you have to basically take that scale and develope you own line on it
the best thing to do is take osme of you favorite songs and play along with the recording just take the scale and listen to the recording and just start playing notes bends hammer ons
after awile you will be able to tie in lick into your style.
annother thing you could do is
play licks between th epenatonic and the blues scales.
Best way to start improv is listen to a basic 12 bar blus progression and jsut start playing
now in time you want to hear what you are playing
you dont want your fingers to be playing you want your mind to be playing.
you could also learn some arpeggios and you can tie them into you improve
Now for chord improv that is a lot harder jazz guys do that if you play jazz and want to improve chorch check out joe passes videos he is great on teaching the chord and melody improv.

good luck I hope you have a great career
