Risk of "electrick shock" when you open a LCD monitor?
Is there any risk of "electric shock" to the operator when opening a LCD monitor (being the power off)? Is similar to the older CRF monitors or TV sets, where the capacitors related to the catode ray tube store thousands of volts? If yes, can you describe the procedure to discharge the electricity in a LCD monitor, in order to manipulate its inner parts safely?
You need to unplug and leave it standing for at least an hour to make sure all the electricity is discharged.
Opening any TV or monitor even after you remove the plug before an hour could pump you enough electricity to make sure you will never forget. Last time someone did that i saw a small bolt of electricity come out of the monitor to his screwdriver. ^_^
