Recommendation on a welding machine...?
Recommendation on a welding machine...?
Looking for recommendations for a welding machine... Just want it for occasional repairs such as mufflers, welding on bar b que pits, angle iron for bracing.. nothing thicker than 1/4 inch.. was thinking a wire welder with no gas.. Please post opinions on welding machines and what brand if possible.. Also what do you think about the generator and welding machine combo they sell? worth it or not reliable?
The wire fed machine is the best bet (known as Flux Cored Arc Welding FCAW) There are 2 types of this process. With or without shielding gas. Without gas is the best financially, however, the beads will not look as smooth, as opposed to the FCAW with shielding gas. They will need to be worked with a grinder. The generator with the welder would help with the grinder if you are away from a power source.
