what can a gas lens be used on the shielding gas cup duribg GTAW for?

A gas lens will break up the shielding gas and reduce turbulence at the weld as opposed to a standard ceramic cup. It give you a more consistent flow across the width of the cup. A standard cup (with out lens) will be fine for mild steel but not good for exotic metal alloys like inco, cobalt, or titanium.
