Why do restaurants give a second cup of coffee for free but most times charge the full price for a 2nd tea?
today we asked for another cup and the waitress stated we would have to pay another $2.25 for a new tea bag. The hot water was free. Isn't that outrageous?
It's not that I'm "cheap" as suggested by one answer. The breakfast was $19.00 PER PERSON and we didn't complain. We go out often because we can and enjoy doing so, but to get ripped off like this for a tea bag isn't right. I just bought a box of 100 for $3.00. I will now carry some in my purse for places like this!
Not really. Coffee comes in heavy bulk, and charging $1.35 for a cup is plenty to cover the cost of at least three cups of coffee. Tea bags are individually sold, most of the times, or in small boxes. I understand charging for the tea, but $2.25 is way too much to be charging. It sounds like you went somewhere where it was largely overblown and overpriced. Where I work it's $1.35 for each hot tea set, and that comes with a fresh tea pot, lemon slices, and teabag.
