Dimmer switch ??
I have a light switch that controls a wall outlet can i turn that light
switch to a dimmer and the wall outlet is only for lamps??
and if that works can i put a extension cord because ill be putting the lamp on the other side of the room...

Never tried anything like that, but it should work. Make sure you only use incandescent bulbs, because it will not work with fluorescent or compact fluorescent bulbs. If you do need to use the outlet for something else, turn the dimmer to the highest setting and it should be o.k.
