I live in Australia and recently purchased a Yamaha AV Receiver and it has a 2 prong socket. I also have a sub woofer which has a 2 prong electrical plug.
The Yamaha gives me the ability to control the power of my sub when I turn the receiver on/off which is ideal!
However upon reading the recommended positioning of the sub woofer in a 5.1 speaker arrangement my sub woofer cable just isn't long enough.
I've thought about cutting the earth on a standard extension cable, but I'm worried about the safety of doing this. I've searched for adapters, but to no avail. There doesn't seem to be an extension cord on the market that does it.
Hell I've even contemplated converting the power using an Australia to US adapter and then a US adapter back to an Australian 2 prong adapter, but I don't know what the ramifications of that may be. Any help would be much appreciated!
YOU SHOULD EASILY BE ABLE TO SPLICE AN EXTENSION CORD INTO THE WIRE---BE SURE TO BUY SOME WIRE CAPS AND ELECTRICIANS TAPE...NO PROBLEM. ON THE OTHER HAND THE RECOMMENDED SPEAKER PLACEMENT IS NOT MANDATORY AND UNLESS YOU ARE A PURIST ANY ARRANGEMENT SHOULD SUIT.
