Dvd Instructional Diy

Dvd Instructional Diy
what camera, editing software and computer should i use if i want to make an insructional dvd?

my boss and i want to start making instructional dvds for our clients. not sure what equipment we need to get started. any help would be cool as this is going to be a diy project

All you need is any HDV (or miniDV) camera (under $500) and a basic Macbook laptop ($1,100). With this setup, you can be up and running with everything you need in $1,500 or less. Mac includes all the high grade software you need in iLife: iMovie for video editing, iPhoto for digital imaging, GarageBand for audio, and iDVD to burn the final product. If you need to post the video online somewhere, iWeb can make the website for you, and Quicktime can handle any video conversions you may need.

If you get a windows PC, there is nothing wrong with them. The issue is that you will save initially on the price of the computer, but you will have to use the saved money to purchase the right software and sometimes additional hardware since Microsoft only includes the very basic video editing and audio software.

The choice of HDV camera allows you to use very cheap miniDV tapes to record. DV tape is the only good long term storage solution. This allows you to store all your video to mix and match later during editing. You can also save money by reusing the cassettes if necessary. but tape is so cheap that reusing it is only for emergencies.
