I have toggle bolts, but I am not very handy, and would hate to have to take off the entire wall mount and start from scratch. My tv has been on the mount for 24 hours, and seems fine. Instead of toggle bolts, can i just use about 4 more lag bolts with anchors to distribute the weight of the tv evenly?
As I said in your other question...it probably will be fine. It will not fall off the wall if it is very secure on one side - that is probably more than enough to hold it to the wall.
A way around this is to first attach a piece of plywood to the wall that is wide enough to reach the studs on both sides - the piece only needs to be as tall as the mount but it needs to be wide enough to span between two solid studs. Once you mount that to the wall (and paint it), you can then mount the bracket to that. That is very secure and solves the "one stud" issue.
