I have a 15 amp receptacle on a 20 amp circuit breaker I believe, will I have to use 14 gauge or 12 gauge?
Just doing some remodeling and I plan on installing a duplex outlet for the garbage disposer, but that's besides the point.
14 should not be used on a 20 amp circuit anyway, it is only rated for 15 amp service, 12 gauge is rated for 20 amp service.
By the way Link, if you are planning on a disposer you may wish to know that often, motors can and will create a momentary ground fault symptom at initial start up, so usually it is a good idea to wire a disposer's receptacle from a source before a GFCI receptacle and not off of a GFCI breaker either as they will usually tend to trip them. I run to the dishwasher/disposer receptacles from source and then to the GFCI receptacle run from it.
