I recently filled up my 1982 Honda CB600SC Nighthawk (17500 miles, inline 4 cylinder, carburetor) with 2.9 Gallons (its a 3.6 Gallon tank (counting a 0.7 reserve) with Shell V-Power since it has 5 times the minimum required cleaners. I then added a whole bottle (12 oz.) of STP Super Concentrated Fuel Injector Cleaner (the bottle said it treats up to 21 gallons). I doubt this, but would it cause any problems because I added this much? It's a 25 year old bike (and still looks fairly new) with only 17500 miles, so I'm guessing it did quite a bit of sitting around before I had it. I simply want to ensure that any deposits on the carburator are all cleaned off. It wont hurt that I added a whole bottle of cleaner will it?
I have always used Berryman's B12 Liguid as an additive and used the spray version to clean my carbs auto, motorcycle, and lawnmower. Is your throttle sticking?? Is it missing? Make sure you change the fuel filter if that bike has one. Every time they switch from straight gas to alcohol it remove the gunk build up in the tank and fuel system and the filter catches it.
