It looks like a drain pipe, but it is sticking out of the wall through the drywall. It is about one foot above the right hand corner of the sink. It is a threaded pipe about inch in diameter and sticks out of the drywall about 1/4 inch. What is it or what would need a drain pipe 1 ft above the sink? It looks original to the house which was built in the 1950s. I was going to cut the pipe and drywall the hole, but I think I will just cover with a blank electrical plate for now.
The pipe goes up and down with a T coming out of the wall. If this is a vent pipe why is it needed, and what's the best way to cover it?
does the pipe go upward, downward or to the side? It could be the vent pipe for the drain of the sink. before covering it make sure rain water does not fill up pipe.
