Should I have hardwood floors in the entire house?
We just bought a house that was built in the 1970's. It has beautiful hardwood in the downstairs but the family room is covered in carpet (hardwood is underneath)as is my bedroom and stairway. I am thinking of ripping that carpet up and having just hardwood floors. Do you think I would regret this decision? I do have 2 boys with high allergies but no pets. How noisy will our house become? What would you do?
I say go for it (all hardwood). My husband and I purchased our 1957 home with hardwood underneath the carpet as well. We had the floors redone and I do not regret the decision at all. I love my hardwood floors. Besides, that whats in now. Carpet holds a lot of dirt (even after cleaning) and since your child has allergies, that is all reason is pull the carpet up.
