Hey everyone, I recently purchased a new bed and was confused about how the bedding decor is supposed to go. I want my bed to be hotel like (love marriott beds) but what do I need to complete the look? Where do I buy those decorative pillows? And do I need both a duvet cover & comforter? what do the hotels use? I would appreciate if you could answer starting from the bottom layer and up

First you put on the bed skirt. This goes under the top mattress and lays over the box springs draping down almost touching the floor.
OPTIONAL: Then you add the mattress pad or rubber sheets to protect the mattress. This adds extra cushion or protection for the expensive mattress under the sheets.
Next, add the fitted sheet. A great tip here is to add the elastic button closers at the corner to hold the fitted sheet onto the mattress and not allow it to 'slip off'.
Now, you add the top sheet. The top of the top sheet should be seam up approximately 6 inches from the head end of the mattress. Tuck the extra material of the sheet under the foot end of the mattress.
Then, lift the side hanging sheet up onto the bottom corner of the bed keeping it straight and free of wrinkles. Tuck the extra flap under the mattress and carefully lower the sheet back into place. This is a 'hospital corner'.
OPTIONAL: Place a blanket neatly on top of the top sheet to add warmth to the bed. Tip----> Some like to keep this blanket on the bed and just fold the comforter down at night and cover up with the blanket and top sheet if the comforter is too heavy.
Add the comforter, or duvet, at this point. The comforter/duvet will have two seams going down it that should help you line up the comforter perfectly with the sides of the top of the mattress. The bottom of the comforter/duvet should barely brush the floor at the bottom of the bed. There should lots of 'extra' at the top. Fold this down neatly and evenly at the top of the bed to expose the wrong side of the comforter.
Now, add your plain pillows to the top of the bed with the openings of the pillow cases facing outward. Position the pillows about one to two inches on top of the fold of the comforter. Now, flip the comforter over the pillows and use your hands to tuck just a very small amount of the comforter under the pillows. Straighten the sides of the comforter so that it drapes uniformly across the bed.
Now, add the bed pillows that are covered with decorative pillow shams on top of the comforter covered pillows by placing them in a leaning fashion up against the other two pillows.
Arrange all other decorative pillows as you like.
