Alright, I'm working on redoing my reptile aquarium and I have a few questions about working with plexiglass. The tank did not have an edge around the top for the screen clamps to latch onto. So, I cut pieces of clear plexiglass and evenly glued them around the edge of the tank. It worked out remarkably well but it's a little ugly because you can see the glue behind it. I am going to remove these pieces and redo it to make it more aesthetically pleasing. I was looking at colored plexiglass but heard you can paint clear plexiglass with acrylics instead. I'd prefer to do this, but I'm wondering if the regular clamping/unclamping of the lid would scrape the paint. Some say the paint more or less 'fuses' with the glass so this would not be an issue, but I can't get a definite answer. Any experiences?
I use acrylics all the time, I then Modge Podge the paint to make it shine and protect it against the elements.
