I bought a new wall light, but the cable from the wall has only a red and black wire, how do i fit this?
There is no wires on the new light fitting just two screws on either side on the outside of the screw in bulb holder, however no markings on the fittings as to which screw holds with coloured wire, especially as it has a metal wall plate but no earth wire. Please help
Unless the new light has a square-within-a-square symbol, then don't fit it. It requires an earth for safety if it is unmarked.
As for the other problem.
You need to put the red (live) wire to the terminal which connects to the centre of the screw. That way you can't get a shock by touching the bulb's thread part.
