Can I run veg oil in my diesel car without modifications?
I want to know if its possible to run my car on a mixture of 'fresh' vegetable oil (shop bought-not already used) & diesel without a preheater?
If it is possible, what is the ratio i.e 50/50, 40/60??
(I would be needing to use 'fresh' vegetable oil as I do not have the facilities to make 'biodiesel' from used oil-does it make any difference anyway?)
If anyone out there is successfully running their diesel car on a mix of diesel & vegetable oil I would be interested to hear from you!
Also is it true that if you do less than 10,000 miles a year you dont have to pay VAT on the vegetable oil!?
I run my Mitsubishi Pajero 2.8 Diesel on a 50/50 mix with no problems. However if you have either a common rail diesel of a Lucas pump I would avoid using it. Up to 2500 litres per year is tax free but you must keep proof of useage i.e. Diesel and Veggie oil receipts just in case you are dipped. You can always have a look at the Pajero Clubs Forum for advice www.pocuk.co.uk.
