Can a 15v Car AC/DC adapter handle a laptop with a 19v output?

I'm about to take a very long flight and want to be able to use my laptop. The plane uses a dc "cigarette lighter" style plug. I'm about to order a Belkin AC Anywhere adapter, but I noticed the DC voltage says 15v. My laptop has an output of 19v, so would I fry the adapter after pluging it in? I'm interested in this style of adapter because my wife and I can share it back and forth. If I buy a laptop specific adapter, I'll have to buy two (one for each of us). So it would be cheaper and more convenient if I could just if I could just buy something like the Belkin adapter.

If your laptop requires 19 VDC, an adapter with a rated output of 15 VDC will not be able to power it. The computer will not work correctly (if at all) due to the low voltage condition, and the adapter will get quite hot due to the increased current draw through it trying to supply the laptop with the required power. You would probably ruin the adapter, or at the least it will shut down due to the excessive draw condition.
Belkin and other manufacturers make multiple voltage (selectable) adapters that should be able to provide the necessary voltage and current requirements for both your laptop and your wife's laptop.
Obviously, a versatile multi-voltage high output rated adapter will be more expensive than one designed for use with just one particular laptop.
Determine the voltage and current requirements of both laptops, and then select an adapter capable of supplying the higher rated one, and that has adapter tips to fit both laptops. Then you should be fine.
